Durer's Engravings

Albrecht Durer (1471 - 1521), German painter, draughtsman, art theorist and master printmaker, pushes the technique of line engraving to its limits. He makes engravings and woodcuts of unprecedented size and complexity, as seen in the Allentown Art Museum work Madonna with Pear. Durer is generally regarded as the greatest German Renaissance artist.
