Michelangelo's Chapel

Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475 - 1564), a self-taught artist, completes the ceiling fresco of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican, Rome for Pope Julius II. A Florentine sculptor, painter, poet and architect who pushed the artistic ideals of his generation to their physical and stylistic extremes, Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel represents the summit of his achievement.
