But there are no portraits of Bartolomeo. Like most Renaissance artists, he probably wasn't rich or famous enough to have a portrait made and
of course, cameras didn't exist 500 years ago.
But Bartolomeo, like many master artist, had a workshop with many assistants and apprentices. The master would paint the most
essential parts of the most important commissions. Skilled apprentices would paint backgrounds, secondary figures, and less important
commissions under the supervision of the master. |
